Felt like a real home from home

What a fabulous location and house. Finding a house for 16 of us is usually a challenge so we were delighted to find Scaldbeck House. Great views, lovely and quiet, plenty of parking.

The Kitchen was so well-equipped (the owners kindly answered my email about if it had a blender and even told me where it should be located). It had everything and 3 dishwashers was perfect to keep on top of the washing up for us all.

Great walks from the house too.

Having various places to hang out made it both intimate and also allowed you some quiet time without having to stay in your room. Made a great weekend with friends even better.

A perfect venue

We rented Scaldbeck House for our annual get-together of old friends; there were eleven of us. We could not have hoped for a better place to stay.

The owners have managed to create an ambience that is all at once spacious, gracious and homely; this cannot have been achieved without a great deal of thought and effort but the end result is an interior that feels entirely relaxed and natural. It is also, it has to be said, very well cared for.

Outside, the house has a delightful terrace along its south side and to the north, there is the lovely backdrop of the marshes and Blakeney Point. Look very hard and you might even see a seal… That is before you take one of the seal trips from Morston Quay to see them close up!

The owners were most helpful from the start and when we had a problem with the internet, which was of BT’s making, not theirs, they were very quick to deal with it.

Scaldbeck House makes an ideal base for exploring the treasures of North Norfolk, which are innumerable. Indeed, we are already thinking of another visit next year...

Can't praise enough

We had 18 guests in total to celebrate my 50th and the house was perfect. All rooms are fitted out to a very high standard. Huge luxurious bedrooms and plenty of space downstairs for entertaining

The house also allows great access to the coast and is a 3 min stagger to nearest pub. Would love to visit again.

The perfect place to celebrate

An amazing house. 17 of us celebrated a 30th Birthday. Wonderful facilities, all the bedrooms were great. Tip is to make sure the Hot Water is on as so many people can get through it. Also the WIFI network could do with being extended and was a little intermittent, but we were in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks for letting us use your wonderful house to create such a memorable weekend!

Incredible place, we will be visiting again!

We visited Scaldbeck house with a group of friends in early May for a birthday weekend. When we booked we looked at the house website and watched the video tour so we knew it would be good, but then you arrive and see the house in person! It is incredible and has stunning views over the marshes. The attention to detail is evident in every room and we found it tricky to decide which room to have!

The kitchens are excellently equipped and there is a great deal of space which is very helpful when cooking for a large party.

The annexe/games room was very useful with such lovely weather we had, some could sit outside in the courtyard whilst others played table tennis. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable with the lovely lemon drizzle cake to welcome us!

We have recommended the house to a number of friends and family and are trying to compile a date for when we can go back again!

Superb house set in amazing grounds

We have just enjoyed a weekend at this fabulous house and would recommend it to anyone looking for a top grade weekend retreat with family or friends. Our party consisted of 9 adults and 5 children and the house catered for us perfectly.

The quality of the fixtures and fittings are fantastic, I am notoriously fussy regarding accommodation and can say that this is the first time I have been overwhelmed and undersold! The pictures of the property probably do not do it justice particularly the size of the beautiful grounds it is set within. We were also really appreciative of the welcome Easter cake left for us by the owners and the chocolate bunnies for the kids, it was a nice touch and the cake tasted amazing.

There was more than enough room for our party and it is a fabulous family house that comes alive with lots of people in it. The outside games area was a welcomed additional room that was utilised well by the group.

Being that the location is rural, phone signals are not very good so just a courtesy heads up to anyone looking to stay here. That said, once you are there, you will want to switch your phone off in any event and just relax and enjoy the splendour of the property! We found that signal was best achieved in the formal living area and above bedrooms. There is Wi-Fi provided with the property.

We also booked a private chef that was recommended by the owners for a special 65th birthday dinner for my father. Will Gowing provided an unforgettable evening along with Sonia who was our hostess for the evening. Will's food was second to none and the evening glided effortlessly allowing us to enjoy a stress free and fantastic birthday celebration. I would hugely recommend anyone staying booking Will and his team if you are looking for a special occasion and great food.

In summary, I would have zero hesitation in returning to Scalbeck House, in fact we are already trying to book our return visit!

Altogether luxurious!

We visited scaldbeck house for an extended family reunion in May. Our party consisted of 14 adults and 2 children. The house is situated right on the marshes with stunning views to the sea. It was really well equipped - we cooked in the lovely kitchen on two evenings and visited the local pub -The Anchor - for dinner on our third night.

The house is beautifully furnished with lovely little touches- altogether luxurious! There was lots of information on the history of the house that was really interesting. The owner was really helpful. The cake left for us was much appreciated!!

The games room/ annexe was great extra space and provided room for fun competitions of table tennis and chess. We would have no hesitation in recommending Scaldbeck House to other families- it exceeded our expectations.

Exceptional Weekend Retreat

We spent the weekend at Scaldbeck with a group of friends and family for a big birthday bash: there were 15 of us in the party - all adults. To arrive at Scaldbeck House was an excellent start to a fantastic weekend. We were genuinely blown away by the quality of the property and the superb setting on the edge of the marshes: the views from the house and grounds are simply stunning and I would agree with a previous reviewer that although the house looks very luxurious from the photographs, it is still better in reality.

The accommodation suited us well with everyone able to chose an individual and very well appointed bedroom. We cooked all our own food for the weekend and found it really easy to work in the space and that it was fully equipped with everything needed to cater for such a large group.

We all enjoyed sitting together in the big drawing room in the evening with fire lit: it made a great space for entertaining everyone. The house was warm and extremely comfortable: it made a superb luxury base for a very successful party weekend.

We will certainly be back and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone seeking a high quality holiday experience.

The setting is stunning, as is the house – it’s a dream!

We loved reading about the history of the build, whilst tinged with such sadness it was lovely to walk in each room looking at all the salvaged wood etc.

The addition of the annexe is wonderful and that view from the family bathroom, I’d of been happy sleeping in the bath!

It was perfect for a family reunion, so THANK YOU.

Perfect Property - Idyllic Location

We booked the house for our wedding & reception and couldn't have asked for better facilities. The owners were very helpful in recommending local service providers, such as caterers, who were all excellent. The house is spacious, beautifully furnished, has great facilities & has the feel of a family home rather than a holiday let.

The views from the house are spectacular, even in November, and the location is perfect for exploring the north Norfolk coast. The wonderful restaurant at Morston Hall is within walking distance as is The Anchor pub for lunch or evening meals.

We would definitely recommend it for a large gathering & look forward to returning again.

Amazing house! Can't wait to go back

I booked Scaldbeck house for my husbands 30th and it did not disappoint. The house is very spacious, great amenities and great location.

The beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms were spacious as we had travel cots for the three babies amongst our party. My husband and I had the master room 'knot' which was huge!

We will highly recommend this house to people we know looking for luxury and relaxation in Norfolk.

Fantastic

Reviewed 15 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

I booked this as a family getaway for my mums 60th and wow what a place!! Its tradition that we stay in larger houses for best birthdays and i have to say this is the best place we have stayed by far!!

The house itself was superb and finished to the highest standards and felt very homely! the grounds were absolutely stunning with superb views out to blakeney point and it felt secluded being located off the road, but also accessible to nearby seaside towns being a short drive away!
The games room was fantastic and with this and the courtyard is a great place to entertain the whole famlly!

The owner James from initial booking was so helpful and nice, which i have found to be rare in previous experiences of booking last venues and could not help us out enough! When i had a problem with the heating he was on hand within 30 minutes and even set up our BBQ for us and was a throughly nice person!

The search is now off for future family get togethers Scaldbeck House cannot be beaten!!! Thanks again James and Vicky for a superb weekend and making my mums 60th such a memorable occasion

Beautiful house immaculately presented in a wonderful setting

We recently enjoyed a 60th birthday celebration last weekend (3rd to 5th July) Scaldbeck House is a high class venue that is extremely well equipped.

The setting is superb, with views overlooking Blakeney Point, that can be enjoyed from a number of bedroom windows. The Games room was a bonus as we were able to hold our celebrations in there with the bi-folding doors open, enjoying the view and the warm evening sunshine.

Overall, a perfect venue, that I would certainly use again and recommend to others.
The owner, James, was on hand to answer any issues. A lovely man.
