Better than expected!

We loved Scaldbeck House which was even better than we had expected. It is so well appointed it made self catering easy for a large group. We shall certainly recommend you to our friends. Mrs S Sept ‘23

Return to Scaldbeck

What a fantastic place, second time around just as amazing if not better than the first.
The weather helped, and we were able to enjoy all areas of the house.
Sitting outside with fire pits and games room doors open, the scenery was beautiful.

The house and facilities as usual were spot on - couldn't ask for anything more.
Thank you so much Scaldbeck - put a smile on all our faces during these unprecedented times

We will be back for sure.

Another amazing weekend

Our second visit to Scaldbeck house and it didn’t disappoint. After searching online we could not find anything to compare and to be honest glad we didn’t, we love the place.

Fantastic house, great facilities and just a great atmosphere.

If you want to try something different try Axe Throwing at Axe & Escapes at Fakenham. An hour and a half of fun and laughter had by all from 12 year olds to 60 year olds.

I have a feeling we will be back in 2021.

Happy November Party at Scaldbeck

Just spent a fabulous weekend at the majestic Scaldbeck House. A superb location with easy access to the wonderful North Norfolk Coast. The house is extremely well furnished with everything you could wish for when catering for a group of 15. No special occasion for our get together but Scaldbeck House made it a special occasion to remember. Will be going again soon. MC

Another member of the party writes:

  • What a fantastic place Scaldbeck house is, everything you expect from a country house and more, a spacious kitchen more than adequate for our party and dining room to match, huge sitting room with comfortable furnishings and roaring fire , spacious en-suite bedrooms and plenty of other nooks provided a quiet space. Outside was enough parking space for all and a lovely courtyard leading to the annex with table tennis, all in all a great base to see north Norfolk. NB

  • Absolutely Fabulous!! An amazing house in a picturesque setting. Has everything and more that a group of 15 friends could wish for, pure class. What a lovely three days away. SS

A Gathering of the Clans

  1. James & Vicky We wanted to let you know that we've had a fantastic holiday in the wonderful Scaldbeck House.
The location is superb. Quiet with stunning views across the marshes to the see beyond. A great pub/restaurant within a ten minute walk and Blakeney within easy walking via Morston Quay. We also had lovely trips to Wells and Sheringham.(via the North Norfolk Railway at Holt) Even the windy/wet weather on Saturday didn't spoil our stay.
The property is superbly equipped with plenty of room options for large group gatherings or alternative quieter times.
The large kitchen plus the smaller side prep room were priceless when it came to preparing meals for our party of 14 and access to 3 dish washers proved to be 'the icing on the cake' Preparing meals was a pleasure not a pain.
The house was lovely and clean and we wanted for nothing.
All three generations enjoyed themselves immensely and we will return.

Birthday weekend

Review: Dear James and Vicky,

Thank you for letting us use your beautiful house for my 50th birthday gathering. We had an amazing time, the house is gorgeous with fantastic views from every room. There is such a lot of local detail in the décor.

Unfortunately the weather was stormy so we couldn't take the boat trip to see the seals form Morston Quay, right next door. However the weather didn't dampen our enjoyment and we celebrated with Avril from Chef2dine4 cooking an amazing 3 course meal for us all on the Saturday night. On the Sunday we popped down the road to the fabulous Anchor Inn where we had a lovely roast lunch.

Great location overlooking 'The Pit' and a few minutes walk to Morston Quay and the pub.
James and Vicky thank you so much for all your help and answering so many questions before our trip.

We hope to return one day

Birthday Weekend

Dear James,

Thank you for letting us rent the house. We had a great time at Scaldbeck , helped by glorious weather and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the weekend.

It was made even better for her as she is a keen gardener and her favourite flower is the snowdrop, and what a great show you have.

My family are encouraging me to book again.

Many thanks to you and your wife,

AC.

Awesome Weekend January 2019

What a great time we had at Scaldbeck House, the house is amazing, if you want a quiet corner, play games, chill with a jigsaw or just chat with friends this house has it all and more.

The weekend just flew by and a fantastic time was had by all, I can understand why people return to Scaldbeck House. I wouldn’t bet against us returning - it’s a superb place, happy memories and good times.

Coming back again!

Our group of 15 had our 7th visit to Scaldbeck House on the weekend of 5th November. The fact that this was our 7th visit might give you a clue of why the whole party love this venue. A beautiful house in a lovely location. The interior is finished to a very high standard, but at the same time is very homely and welcoming.
We have already provisionally booked for 2019! BS 18/11/18

Ultimate destination!

I just wanted to write to you to say what a wonderful time we all had this weekend at Scaldbeck. I left last night but the friends still there were all set to clear up the last few bits - hope it was all in order when you took over today.

We have gathered a large group of friends several times but I can safely say that this was by far our favourite venue in 30 years of reunions. Everything was perfect from the house, to the location, to the annex, to the hospitality of you both; the kindness to let in the early arrivals who had flown in from abroad was hugely appreciated.

The overwhelming decision was to stop looking around for a different house each time and simply go back to Scaldbeck from now on.

Many thanks to you both.

A Happy Return 18.4.18

Having enjoyed Scaldbeck so much when we stayed in April 2017, our group of old friends returned for a second visit this year. The foggy weather did not dampen our spirits; it simply encouraged us to spend a little more time in the lovely house itself, not least in the drawing room in front of a cheerful log fire. The generous, spacious layout of the house ensured that we never for a moment felt overcrowded.

We have already booked for 2019. There is still so much to see and do in beautiful North Norfolk.

Thank you James and Victoria!

Amazing House

All fifteen of us have returned home safely after a very enjoyable and comfortable family weekend. We were nine adults and six youngsters ranging from 16 to 8 years.

Friday night after arrival we had a communal family buffet.
Saturday the weather was kind and warm. We took a trip with Bean's Boats and we ate at the Anchor.
Sunday the weather was awful so we visited wet Wells for midday and spent the evening warm and snug in Scaldbeck House.

The house is amazing. The history of the building of the house, the subsequent life of Major Hamond who built it and his links with the Vicar of Stiffkey reads like a novel!

We took away many pleasant memories of our stay: a Kestrel perched on a pollarded thorn tree; a stately stoat sauntering along the lawn; white violets in the nettles at the side; fresh flowers in the house; the paintings and embroidery - there was so much to enjoy.

We enjoyed a marvellous and relaxing weekend. Many thanks.

Wonderful weekend

We recently returned from a long weekend at Scaldbeck House to celebrate my husbands 70th birthday, there were 18 of us and what a wonderful weekend we all had. As soon as you turn into the driveway and see this stunning house it takes your breath away and when you open the door and get inside its just WOW!!!

All the bedrooms are beautiful with amazing views from every window, extremely comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms. The two kitchens are extremely well equipped and for 18 of us we made good use of both of them at times, the main lounge is wonderful, again with beautiful views and as the weather was fairly cold we made use of the log fire on two evenings which added to the homely feel of this amazing house, the dining room had ample room to seat all of us. We also had the annexe which provided another lovely bedroom and the games room was a great hit with the men who spent a good time playing table tennis.

We had Robbie Spencer Ashworth cook a meal for us on the Saturday and he provided us with a delicious meal that was enjoyed by everyone and we also had Robert to wait on us which was a definite bonus as we had canapés in the lounge before our main meal.

My family are already discussing when we can return to Scaldbeck and we had some very sad faces when it was time to leave. I would like to extend my thanks to James and Vicky for letting us borrow their magnificent house and also to thank them for the lovely lemon drizzle cake which was much appreciated. We will return!

Many thanks from Hazel and Bob Hudson and family

Fantastic!

We stayed at Scaldbeck House for the weekend with our families following our wedding down the raod at Cley Windmill. The house was perfect with a bathroom to each bedroom and plenty of room for everyone to come and go as they pleased. We also rented the annex for a little extra room, which has the most amazing views.

The standard of the house was high and each room had a wow factor when you walked around. Our guests were all delighted that we found this amazing venue.

We also had a professional caterer (Will Gowing of Private Chef Experience) cook us dinner one night and a BBQ the next day. His team looked after us beautifully and this added an extra luxury to an already fantastic setting.

Vicky went out of her at to ensure we had what we needed and was most accommodating in letting us in early to take a shopping delivery, providing the right seating for 18 of us to dine together and making sure we had the right equipment for the six children.

As for the children, they absolutely loved the place. Their highlight was the pirate treasure hunt we set up in the house and around the grounds.

We only wish we had stayed for longer, and we have been thinking hard for another excuse to return.

Thank you!

A house to fall in love with

We've just come back from a long week-end family reunion, there were 14 of us, to celebrate my 80th birthday and it was a very enjoyable get-together, both emotional and jolly. Everybody of us spoke about the house in superlatives. Several members of group enquired how we had managed to find such a delightful spot. When finally preparing to leave, our 6 year-old grandson said to his mother: 'I want to stay longer in this nice house.' ...which neatly summed up the feelings of everyone of us.

A recent contributor giving his feed-back under the heading "Amazzzing!! has rendered a very fitting description of the splendid location, the comprehensive facilities and the beauty of the place, with which we all agree.

Wow! A True Relaxing Luxury Home

Wow wow wow!

We stayed at Scaldbeck House as an extended family for my 50th birthday celebrations. If you are looking for everything north Norfolk is famous for then this is the place. Location location location, great facilities and lovely people to communicate with.

Scaldbeck House surpassed our expectations and we can not recommend it highly enough. Having Will Gowing / The Private Chef Experience to cook for our celebratory meal was very special and greatly enjoyed by all young and old.

We had the best time here, the house works so well and caters for everyone's needs. We can't wait to come back!

Amazzzing!!!!

Just returned from an amazing weekend at Scaldbeck Hs. We were a group of 6 couples visiting for weekend. The photos of the property don't disappoint and yes it is that amazing. I go away regularly and could tell the owners know how to look after visitors. With three dishwashers, cookers galore, lovely crockery (everyday and posh for dinner parties) and even lovely candle holders to make it homely. The annex and the courtyard is bliss with bi fold doors and views out to the water/quay magical when sun sets! So sweet of them to have logs available for fire pit, gorgeous drizzle cake on arrival and such lovely cleaning ladies who were so polite and kind.

I hope this house rental continues as you made a group of friends the happiest they've been all year. We can't wait to come back (wish I could keep it a secret).

Wonderful Scaldbeck House

Looking for a 9 bedroom house with friends, to celebrate our 50th birthdays was not easy but then I found the lovely Scaldbeck House. Set in a quiet location, in beautiful grounds with lots of coastal walks on the doorstep and a pub around the corner.

The house was very spacious, well maintained and well equipped. We booked Will Gowing, a private chef to come in on the Saturday to cook us dinner, as we were celebrating our 50th birthdays. His service and food were fabulous and would highly recommend him. On the Sunday evening, we had a bbq and lit the fire pits in the forecourt. It was a great way to end our weekend, with friends altogether.

From start to finish, James and Victoria were incredibly helpful with setting up our special weekend and the welcome cake was gratefully received.

I cannot praise this house enough, it's just brilliant.
