Amazing House

All fifteen of us have returned home safely after a very enjoyable and comfortable family weekend. We were nine adults and six youngsters ranging from 16 to 8 years.

Friday night after arrival we had a communal family buffet.
Saturday the weather was kind and warm. We took a trip with Bean's Boats and we ate at the Anchor.
Sunday the weather was awful so we visited wet Wells for midday and spent the evening warm and snug in Scaldbeck House.

The house is amazing. The history of the building of the house, the subsequent life of Major Hamond who built it and his links with the Vicar of Stiffkey reads like a novel!

We took away many pleasant memories of our stay: a Kestrel perched on a pollarded thorn tree; a stately stoat sauntering along the lawn; white violets in the nettles at the side; fresh flowers in the house; the paintings and embroidery - there was so much to enjoy.

We enjoyed a marvellous and relaxing weekend. Many thanks.
